Hello Fishes,
I have got an offer at Wells Fargo for the role Technology Business Systems Consultant and my total YOE is 4.8 into Testing (Manual and Automation)
Is this role relevant to my experience or is it a role for much experienced person than me?
Any idea or information that what is the pay usually offered for this position?
Please provide your thoughts and suggest whether I should change 1. My role or 2. Request for more pay
Thanks in Advance!Wells Fargo

Just did this last year, and am in Zurich. Here’s my list.
-corporate housing for as long as you can get. Took me almost 6 weeks to get approved and signed for an apartment.
-relocation agent- this is a must especially for expats (atleast in Zurich).. you need them to use connections to the property managers and also converse in German with the landlords etc. this made the process much easier for me and was extremely hard for others at my company that didn’t have a real agent in their expat package.
-tax preparation for US and Swiss returns. My company did this for me. The tax returns are awful, especially if you own property in the US.. Switzerland taxes you on your wealth so be prepared to have significant taxes if you have a lot of equity in your house or investments.
-German classes if in the German speaking areas of Switzerland
-make sure your salary is fair for cost of living. Switzerland is very expensive, and you’ll want to understand costs and be prepared for the COL jump. It’s way more expensive than NYC/LA.
-be prepared to pay atleast CHF 400 per month for health insurance (that is high deductible plan and no dental insurance)
-you will also need to take out personal liability insurance, this is about CHF 350 a year for basic coverage
-when you move into your apartment, do an EXTREMELY thorough walkthrough to spot any damages. Even if it’s a small mark, note it on the move in papers. Landlords here will literally spend 2 hours on move out to inspect the apartment. I’ve heard absolute horror stories from coworkers about being charged hundreds of CHF for the smallest of things.
-be prepared to pay 2-3 months rent for the security deposit for your apartment. This is customary, atleast in Zurich.
DM me if you have any other questions.
great advice👍🏾
Hi there! These would be some good ones to look at -
- relocation allowance (flat amount rather submitting expenses)
- housing search with a local company (e.g. packimpex)
immigration support for you and family
- tax preparation for Switzerland and the US (at least first year would be helpful)
- allowance for health insurance is rare except helpful
- transit allowance (e.g., car, train pass)
Nice to have except not crucial would be language courses
DM if you need more info.
Thanks so much!!
I wouldn’t call a move to another country a lateral move … it won’t be for your career
