However, my acupuncturist told me to not take extended breaks because my ovarian reserve is low and I can’t risk losing time.
I did have a 2 month break between cycle 3 and cycle 4 when I switched clinics.
I’m scared, angry, frustrated, and sad.
Any words of encouragement, advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all 🙏🏼
Although it’s so hard on your body I agree with acupuncturist. The longer you wait the DOR goes down even more. It’s such a sad thing and I’m so sorry you’re going through this, it’s really not fair
I’m so sorry! if you haven’t already read it, I highly recommend it starts with the egg. The author has some useful advice and research on things we can do to help make ivf chances better. It’s useful, cause often physicians don’t talk about the supplements, diet, etc that we can do to increase our chances.
The book cites to the actual studies to support the recommendations too, so it’s not just anecdotes, but based on pee reviewed research.
I took a 2 month break in between two cycles, and my clinic had a firm 1 month break requirement. I’d ask your RE for their recommendation and particularly what can be changed about your cycles to get better results. Your acupuncturist may mean well but this isn’t their core area of expertise, so don’t feel pressured by what they say.
Big hugs to you too! Ohhh of course, no worries at all! All good!!
Thanks so much for your support!!
I took a 3month break after #4. I used the time to follow-up with my ob/gyn and to do my own research and meet with other clinics. Despite unsuccessful attempts, I had success on my final try with a new clinic. This time my Ob/gyn referred me to a new doctor, who had tons of experience and research. He also leads up the fertility department at the medical school nearby. I was 42, his clinic had an age limit of 43. He and I were both skeptical of PGT and agreed to forego it. We implanted 2 embryos (our last surviving two) and one stuck. I was pregnant at 43 and have a healthy 8 month old baby girl. Hang in there and find a knowledgeable doctor.

40 for my first retrieval, got 5 eggs, 2 made it to blast, both aneuploid. Took a 3 month break for my 2nd to implement some lifestyle changes from It Starts With the Egg (supplements, diet, cutting out a lot of but definitely not all perfumes). 2nd retrieval we bailed because egg development was going poorly (would have gotten 2 max and doctor thought we could do better). Ran into the holidays which resulted in a completely unplanned 2 month break (nothing like your cycle starting late 2 days after the cut-off for December). Finished round 3 in the spring with 4 eggs, 1 blast, eupleoid on a chlomid low dose procedure. Implanting on the 20th, just after I turn 41.

I added a variety of supplements, moved my diet towards eating more fish (2-4 times a week, mostly for lunch) and removed a lot of (not all) perfumes from my life
