Remotely? Forget that. RTO is coming back now. Also SQL is too generic. Hone in on a database like Oracle, MySQL or Postgres and learn how to use it within a programming language.

I started my career in a support role that had nothing to do with what I actually wanted, but was an excellent way to get my foot in the door. You could also focus on projects to include in a portfolio. Certificate wise, try and find job postings that you can get an idea of what is being asked for. Freelance could also be a move to get hands on experience.

As another contributor mentioned, focus on specializing in a specific database software. Oracle has the largest market share, and MySQL is the most widely known. I would focus on one of those.
Postgres still has a decent market share, it's just not top 2. Oracle database experts generally make more money. MySQL db experts have lots of options on the market.
You need to start with learning IP subnet mask, networking protocols. You need a firm foundation so you know the in's and outs of a network and also it helps when you're writing code. Learning networking is actually pretty easy much more so than coding is bland and boring it's like learning a different language well it is bland and doesn't really make sense because you can call a cup a cup in two different languages so you have something to relate to. Coding is difficult because you don't have something tangible to compare it to. And, you're going to be behind the screen all day long no interaction with anyone, nothing, just in a cube writing code
