I have an interview for an in house position (only attorney) at a small non-profit focused on conservation easements. I am a transactional associate at a mid sized law firm. The prospect of freedom from the billable hour and contributing to meaningful work are the draws. The cons are that while the salary at the non-profit would only be slightly less than what I am making now, pay increases and opportunities for advancement will be much less than where I am now. About to begin the recruitment process for BCG and am coming in from EY where I’m currently a manager. I have pretty good work life balance: 8 am to 7 pm and on fridays, I can sign off at 3 pm. People are great at EY but I know the work could be more interesting at BCG and also greater pay. Currently making $150k. Should I just stay put? What are the big draws of moving to BCG? In Iowa, there is no Overtime pay mandate, the overtime pay is at the discretion of the business. I received 58.6 hours of base pay for the week.

If the company makes less than $1 million per year or does not engage in intercontinental sales, the company is not required to pay the overtime rate of time and a half, just your base rate.
