You have to be sponsored. Apply for government jobs too. That will get you one and government contractor positions.
Just need to get in. Apply to bases near you. Thats what I do constantly. Bases and contractors will tell you if they will help you obtain one, or if it’s a condition for hiring. Even if it’s a helpdesk job, the clearance/ ability to get one is worth it alone.
Hi Andrew, after reviewing your LinkedIn profile (Orlando, FL - right?), I think you ought to be able to get a Secret level security clearance - I assumed that you were born in the USA. To receive a higher level, Top Secret and above, other factors come into play.
As others have mentioned, get hired by a company or government agency that requires you to have it, and they’ll apply for one on your behalf.
Contact this lady, she’s amazing…. Might even hire you ! But start by asking her for guidance, check out her linktree! https://x.com/theannalondon?s=21
Obtaining A security clearance is a royal pain in the arse..
Keeping it and credit scores up are a thing...
Once it expires its a pia...
However if you would like to drop and give 50.....
US Army or US Airforce, reserves or National Guard,
One can get secret by end of basic training...
And most clearance jobs will happily let you weekend soldiering...
Too boot , you can get us cyberwarfare school to pick up CISSP, CEH 13 , OSCP hands on hacking etc..
Short Answer: You must be sponsored. It is tied to you not the sponsor.
