Should a remote job’s salary be based on where I live or the company? For instance, I’m interviewing with a SF company for a role that has the ability to be remote (I live in portland). They gave me the “portland range” when talking about salary. What if I later on decide I no longer went to be remote but come into the office and be in SF area. Current market rate for federal tax S2 in NYC?

Now that we have work all year long and lack of an off season, isn’t it a good argument to work just 40 hours a week all year long? Of course there will be some 45s, but I feel it can all be managed if leaders are willing to turn away work and still make a good living. I just don’t see the tax profession improving at its current state, am I just being pessimistic? I know the demand will be there but to continue to work 55+ hours doesn’t sound like something I want to continue as I get older.

Joining a big firm next week as fully remote lateral and flying out to home office for orientation. The schedule has me in office until 4:15. I’ve already been told I won’t have any actual work. Depending on how many people are there and how it feels, I was planning to stay an hour extra but should I hang around the office until later? First time visiting this city so it’d be great to take in some sights too (although that’s not a priority of course).

I have 3 yrs WX. Tier 2 BTech college. Working as Data Scientist 2. CTC is 35L with base 22LPA.

I want to move towards Product Manager or Data Science Manager roles by 2025.

Will master's degree help me move in that direction?
If yes, should I quit my job and pursue a fulltime 1.5 year MS US or 2 year MBA? wrt MBA CAT makes it unpredictable and wrt MS, US Market is very unpredictable right now.
