Hi
I'm really confused about my career.
Two years ago, I started applying for Account Assistant.this has always been my dream job. I’ve completed ACCA Part 1 and volunteered at an accounting firm for one year.I’ve applied for nearly 800 jobs but only received 4 interviews.I truly love this field and still want to work in accounting.
I’m working in retail and I was promoted to a supervisor which I’m grateful for. I keep going with retail, or should I keep trying for a role in accounting?

I think if you've only received 4 interviews after 800 applications, you need to rethink you're approach. With odds like that you should definitely revise and rethink your resume, and you should also focus more on networking. It's true that it's hard to land an interview right now but maybe not the norm for it to be quite as hard as your experience has been. You might need to take an internship to get your foot in the door. Have you tried for any internships?

Thank you so much for your support. I also tried applying for internships, but most of them only accept graduates, and some even replied saying they don’t want ACCA students. I’ve also dropped off my CV in person and emailed accounting firms asking to volunteer, but unfortunately, I haven’t heard back yet.
It’s been really discouraging, but I’m still holding on to hope. I just wanted to share a bit more in case others have experienced something similar.

Hi, I am currently working at Bisleri in a quality control role with 6 YOE. My current CTC is very low (4 LPA) and I have not found any motivation or growth in my role since COVID. Will I be accepted as an intern/junior designer in my early 30s?

Is there such things as FP&A positions in Big 4? If so, are there better times to make the change than others (I.e. at senior vs manager)? I’m currently in FP&A and looking to work at a Big 4, or another company that offers the ability to move abroad. My current company and many others I know about do not offer the mobility to do so until much later, which is not what I want. Thank you.

Just found out that end of the year I will be promoted from analyst directly to VP and since it’s such a large jump I’ll be the lowest paid VP in asset management at only $135k TC. Should I stay it out and wait for TC to align or take the promotion and jump ship bc I will likely get paid more elsewhere given how recruiters/other companies eat up hiring recently promoted ppl from other firms?

I applied to a job at KPMG and did the first two rounds of interviews, general interview, then case study and competency. Never before have I had such a positive feedback at the end of an interview of the 2nd, both said really like me, I did well etc.
It's now been 3 weeks since the interview and I still haven't heard back from the team other than the odd HR email saying they are following up with them. Is there something going on internally, I.e hiring freeze in the London office atm?
