How much money is enough money? Interviewing with a bunch of companies but dont know how to make a tradeoff between the role and culture vs comp. How do y'all think about comp?
Can I jump firms without interviewing in this market? S3 with 3 years FDD experience... not really interested in more than 1 conversation to get to to know the team. To me it's not worth the stress to go through a full interview process but if I received a competitive offer quickly, then I would seriously consider switching.
What does it mean when your interview goes twice as long? Ex: 1 hour instead of 30 mins? Is that a good or bad thing ?
Has anyone ever requested a weekend interview for a PE or credit fund shop? Are people amenable to that?
My fabulous legal assistant is leaving at the end of the year to focus on her mayoral campaign. I live in a very rural area & there are no legal assistants around. Everyone applying have just worked at hospital as assistants. I don’t have time to hold their hand. I need someone running from the start. My friend moved back to the area and she is interested in becoming a paralegal. Any tips/suggestions on what sites, online education, etc to refer her to. I’m at the point of hiring a virtual asst.
I started a new job a month ago and I think I've made a huge mistake. I wanted work life balance, went to a well-known company that has a reputation for it, and have quickly learned that this will be quite the opposite. I am beginning to panic. How do I deal with applying for jobs, specifically the issue of "erasing" this job from my work history without getting in trouble? I feel weird stating that my last job is my "present" one but is there any other option?
Anyone know what a generalist at DE Shaw might make if I have 4 years of work experience including one year in big law? It seems like a generalist can also come straight out of undergrad so…I’m not excited to go through interviews with 0 sense of the salary potential… apparently it can take multiple interviews before they give you any sense
Shared this in a comment thread on another post and want to get thoughts — I’m at 9 interviews for an M role at a startup (close to unicorn). The final loops were early this week and the recruiter reached out today to schedule one final interview focused on skills not in the job description. Should I just pull the plug?
I’ve been interviewing with a firm in another state that mentioned they might prefer to hire me on a “contract basis” until I’ve passed the bar in that state before giving me the permanent position. I’m still not totally sure what a “contract basis” means, though. Does anyone have any experience or insight on that?
I am a financial services consultant (non-Big 4) with a second round interview at Deloitte (three 45 min interviews back-to-back). I have never interviewed at a Big 4 before. Any advice?
For those applying to schools in round 1 and round 2: are you sending thank you cards / gifts to your recommenders now or after they submit the round 2 LORs?
Have an interview with VMYL&R for Creative Director. Any tips on what I should ask or can anyone give their experiences working with the company?
I’m applying for roles as a software development manager in NYC and both tech and finance companies. I have 15 years experience in tech. Not from the US and only moved here last year. Does anyone know the ballpark salary range?
Someone sent me a copy of their resume and I know there test scores are inflated. It’s not my resume so I don’t care what they do but curious about how inflated test scores are detected when applying
@McK fish - Does anyone know who actually evaluates the resumes and makes decisions on interview offers? Not for campus - for experienced hires. Generalist roles.
Anyone can give some pointers for what to say for the "Why Stanford" question in the interview? higher marks for those that are weirdly specific :)
Interviewed in industry and expecting an offer. If they said the role is currently filled by a EY Senior Manager, can I use that to negotiate a higher salary?
What the senior salary for FDD in nyc?

Last round of interview coming up for an analyst/associate role in IB M&A. I have 2 years of experience in Big4 M&A. The previous interview round was very technical, and the last round will be a ”business case”, which lasts about 3.5 hours, including a short introduction, 2-hour preparation, and a presentation. They will provide me the PC. What would you expect an IBD case study to be like? I’m not sure if I have to build everything from scratch or if I can use some ready-made layouts.
What kind of consulting do post mba consultants do at EY since Parthenon is blended in now? And what’s a good reason for switching from Deloitte to EY for post mba? TIA
Thinking about getting animal crossing for my kids - what’s the minimum age y’all would recommend? I get that anyone can fish or catch bugs, but will a child get frustrated when they’re not getting blue roses because they don’t know punnet squares?
Interviewing for MBB...how do I spin my tech implementation experience to strategy consulting?
I have just recently taken a contract position as Director of Compliance at a Fin-Tech company, while my past 17 years of Compliance experience have just been in the financial industry. Does anyone know what the average salary is for Director Of Compliance in the Fin-Tech industry? I’m making next to nothing and have a sinking feeling that accepted the wrong salary.
Was offered an analyst position at VillageMD . Can anyone give me some insight about the culture, pace of work, etc?
Which FAANGS + Tesla, Uber, Microsoft, Disney, and their attempting competitors in the Fortune 500 have the best perks? free lunches, employee shuttles, money for housing, highest RSUs, best office spaces, top equipment, etc I imagine it varies a ton from office to office so if you know own of any offices that are nicer I’m curious about that too. For example, ford factories are sometimes 100 years old and most are around 30 years but they all range in niceness/quality
Applied to Deloitte for an SAP consultant role (currently work at SAP) and got a rejection email an hour later. Took it as a sign from the universe
Should I be concerned for my career with lack of billable projects? Background: Analyst hired out of undergrad in July 2020. I have worked on 3 proposals in the last 2 weeks, and 5 in the last 2 months. In the past year since I was hired, I have 8 months of billable work which is actually slightly higher than the other Analysts I joined with. Should I keep collecting paychecks and hoping for projects, or is this a serious issue that should prompt an exit strategy?
Considering an opportunity as a Business Partner with an analytics group at a cyber security company in the valley. Current Manager at Big4. Would represent a step up in total comp but wondering if it’s viewed as a step backwards in career progression?
Any other Deloitte folks get screwed in their year end rating because of low utilization since there were so few projects to be had earlier this year? Manager openly said it was "beyond my control".
Had an intern whom I could not recommend for hire. She didn’t report to me directly so I never gave her feedback directly. She just asked if she can list me as a reference How would you respond?
Hi, Can anyone refer me to JP Morgan, MSCI or any other firm in the Wealth Management domain? I'm a certified financial planner and CFA L1 Candidate with 2+ YOE Thanks in advance.
Anyone feel like maternity leave affected their raise and bonus? I don't feel like my numbers were adjusted and feel like I am getting the run around
If you can't function due to a heavy depression cloud or anxiety attack, do you say you are taking some time off bc you're not feeling well or "under the weather "? That is the phrase of choice at my office for any sick time, but ppl usually ask what it is. I don't want to disclose but I don't want to seem lazy.
HR keeps trying to paper me up with speed to output crap because they think I’m sick, but the reality is that I’m terminal and probably won’t be around to see the end of this. God I hope they don’t pretend to put up a caring memorial when I’m gone.
