I have never been given actual guidance on this. It’s understood that you get them graded and put in a reasonable amount of time. Turn around time for me varies depending on what all else is going on. I will add that no one has ever questioned me or complained that it was not done quickly enough in 19 years, no matter how slow I was. That sounds a little micro-managey to me.
We also do not have a set amount of time for essays, but are asked to post grades at least once every two weeks. One week with essays is usually where I am comfortable.
The administration asks us to have ours in within ten school days. I will admit that it is often difficult to enjoy work-free weekends, offer good feedback on essays, and get the graded work back to students within that time period. I also understand the importance of timely feedback. I’m trying to figure out a good balance. In doing so, I have limited the specific skills assessed in an essay.
We do not have a set time. I know some teachers have taken several weeks to return research papers.
We’re told two weeks for all grades, and I somehow find a way to do it.
