Hiring manager gone right before my start date - what should I expect?
Accepted an offer in tech last week (EM first exit, Director-level, signed offer, start date in 2 weeks). Just got word that my hiring manager (VP) is no longer with the company as of today.
I turned down a competing offer last week. SVP who interviewed me wants to connect. I’m trying to understand what this could mean.
Am I still safe or should I run from this company?
Don't have better offers at the moment.

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.

Does anyone know impact to h1b employees when a company is wholly acquired? As some of you know now, Navigant is being acquired by guidehouse. Does a new petition need to be filled now?

If the ultimate goal is to move in pharma/biotech (bd / strategy type role), does prestige of consulting firm matter? Or would it be better to work for less known firm that may have more client facing opportunities?

PwC 🐠: Be careful trying to switch competencies. A colleague of mine tried to move and got laid off in the process. Make sure you have the Partners approval first. (On the receiving end)
