AOC, Biden, Ilhan, Hilary... I mean at try to be inclusive when speaking of diversity. You can’t name a single female in the Conservative party throughout history?

How do you professionally address a noticeable lack of diversity on your team? More than 85% of my team is white or white passing, and of the remaining individuals none are Black, Indigenous, or AAPI.

Does anyone else wish their school had been more up-to-date on STEM when they were a kid? I went to college with some kids who had been practicing and studying code since middle school. I learned about it from the internet in high school enough that I wanted to go to college for it, but I still feel like I started behind everyone else regardless of gender.

General question: Is there any room in corporate America for real, actionable DE&I discussions and initiatives? I've observed so many corporate versions become an advertising strategy (SM posts, diversity reports) without doing the actual work (increasing representation in senior leadership, salary analyses, having an effective reporting system for bias). Is this just how it is?

White women leading or giving direction on inclusion and diversity needs rubs me the wrong way especially when their direction on the agenda is diametrically opposite of mine. And it belittles the very precedent of the effort which is to allow diversity of ideas for the groups that don’t have easy access at the table. Help me be more understanding here as I don’t want to give up working on this as a passion project but I feel demoralized with this person.

Tired of people thinking it's better for women to join "certain practices" for ease of work life balance. Why do we encourage a culture where we don't imbibe work life balance as equally important for men! Why do we potentially degrade one practice and uplift the other by means of so called extra demanding efforts? Why promotions and appraisals are still gender biased in this industry? Why do we count extra and unpaid hours as a sign of hard work instead of ineffective planning and inefficiency?

Why do folks move or stay in Cali when the tax burden is pretty significant compared to another vibrant city like Atlanta or Dallas or Charlotte? I did some calcs and for a 250k salary the diff is 1800 a month in net pay between a no tax city/State such as Dallas, TX and about 1000 between Atlanta/Charlotte and CA. Those are significant numbers unless someone is making 2-4 times where a 1000-1800 may not matter to some.

American agency spent half a million dollars on a website to promote diversity, and it’s full of examples of diverse downtrodden white men in or from Europe. Cool, cool.
