Parents are deciding between moving to WVirginia vs Virginia at retirement to be closer to us based in fairfax (ideally be at 1 hour driving distance). They currently in the mid west but WVirginia appeals to them because of low taxes, low cost of living. We are also poc so appreciate some diversity.

Kind of a quick rant. I did a quick search through some firms websites because I am thinking of switching jobs. It is definitely clear most firms still do not embrace diversity. I know diverse applicants must be just as qualified! So what is keeping attorneys of color out?? It’s so discouraging.

I am curious how other inclusion teachers are being utilized when the school is doing remote learning. I find that I am sitting in the zoom class and have very little opportunity to contribute. I am having discussions with my teachers on ways that I can better support them and the students when remote.

I know most of the questions here will be on sexism or inclusion of POC but can we talk about ageism? Once we reach a certain age should we just leave the agency business? Is that fair?

I studied finance in undergrad and had a couple of internal audit internships. I only started a few month ago but I never saw myself doing IT Audit and I don’t like it thus far! How does everyone bill for family law matters? Do you always bill hourly or is there some flat fee, monthly or quarterly fee structure that could work, even in contested matters? I have cases that the clients end up spending $20-$40,000 on a contested divorce and this is really out of their budget. I feel that if my firm could charge a flat fee of $10-$15,000, it would still be beneficial from a client predictability and volume standpoint and would generate more referrals.
