Red line to Park / Green line to Copley - snap. Did it for years. Don’t buy a coat without a hood. The Tower Winds eat umbrellas. 😇
Good wishes on your new job, OP!
Red line to South Station and the CR to Back Bay? I'd think red line to green line at park street or to orange line at downtown crossing would be quicker with more frequent trains.
Transferring trains is totally normal.. Many people do a bus and then 2 train lines as well. Certainly a straight shot is the “easiest” but the difference to change trains is largely negligible
Kirkland? Good luck
There are a bunch of firms in that building.
Definitely do-able. Get on the Red Line, change at Park and get on any Green Line train. The T is set up for precisely this commute. I did it for years.
Depending on where you live, as others have pointed out, it *might* be quicker to take a bus into Boston/Brookline and get on the Green Line there, but probably not.
Driving would be way more of pain than taking the T, so don’t buy a car for this commute.
Did that for years, and it's easy. You don't leave the station, just go up some stairs to the Green Line. On the way back, you hop on at Copley or Arlington.
If the weather REALLY sucks, then you might want to grab the Orange Line at Downtown Crossing and get off at Back Bay. The station is around the corner from the Tower.
47 bus to green line if you live near Brookline Ave. Don’t buy a car. The national tree in the people’s republic of Cambridge is the no parking sign. If you can get down to 2 days in the office then Uber and Lyft become viable.
This all assumes the opportunity cost of the expense outweighs the cost of your time. Regardless, don’t buy a car.
Depends where in Cambridge. I’d map the bus routes bc that train commute w the transfer is brutal depending on where you’re coming from.
I did it for a few months (love Cambridge) before literally breaking lease and moving bc it was unsustainable. Worked at the other law firm in that building.
Somerville has much of that Cambridge charm without as much of a headache commute. Same with Brookline. Would consider those or just biting bullet and living near the office. Agree shouldn’t need a car
