I know there is no black & white answer, but what’s your thought process in deciding when to sell and keep the profit?

Depends on day trade vs long term. If you’re looking for short term, keep reading about company news, market debacles and sell within your risk tolerance threshold.

If market wasn’t this volatile, it would’ve meant 4 to 7% for me! When price goes below 7% at my unit cost, depending on how much free cash I have left, I will invest/buy few more of those stocks.

Being a long term buyer, I don’t sell unless I have major expenses coming up - like down payment for example

Buy and hold, diversified ETFs

I work in sf and Nyc and have now saved enough where I’m wondering if it makes sense to buy rather than rent an apartment as an investment. Tricky part is I’m still quite young and this wouldn’t be my lifelong/family home. Have also considered buying in less metropolitan areas and renting them out for passive income. Curious if anyone’s gone through this process before and have thoughts ?

For those using voyager, does it take a really long time for deposits to settle? It's been like 1.5 weeks, my cash has been taken out of my bank account a while ago, but voyager still has all my deposits as pending.

I can still trade with the pending deposit, but I'm just wondering since I'll eventually withdraw some.

New strat folks.
1. Buy a condo complex.
2. Put the land under said condos into a land conservatorship (for taxes)
3. Rent condos at discounted rates (for taxes)
4. A small fee of the rent goes to a trust as a land conservation fee in perpetuity (for tax reasons)
5. Have another business generating revenue to offset this.

Okay finance gurus, I have an idea and interested in your thoughts. Might be a bad one so be gentle 🙂. I have a 2 yr old and another on the way. Need to start planning for college. I was thinking of buying a condo or 2 in lieu of saving and selling them down the line for tuition. Condos downtown are pretty inexpensive (T3) so it’s financially feasible. But is this a good idea or too risky?

I recently bought my 1st home in TX. I want to get into real estate and eventually own/rent out multiple homes. Are there any good recommendations/tips on books/articles/websites that others have used to get started?

I've read about HELOC and cash out refinance to get a 2nd home but articles are so scattered that it gets confusing which is better in terms of tax benefits and immediate costs, etc. Anything others have found helpful that summarized how to get started would be great!

Asking for a friend:
My friend received two job offers for Account Executive roles: a Mid-Market role with Confluent and an Enterprise role with ThoughtSpot. He’s conflicted because Confluent is a more established company, ThoughtSpot is Pre-IPO. Confluent is a lucrative product to sell and has established SDR reps so there’s a good blend of inbound and outbound sales. Thoughtspot is more of a startup culture where most of the sales comes from outbound and it’s a tougher sell.

I recommended a candidate for hire to a manager that reports directly to me. This person is a perfect match, but wanted the manager to obviously recommend. It has to be a fit. The manager just told me my recommendation is not her top pick. I feel frustrated because as much as we talk about the position, I wonder if we are mot aligned on criteria. What do I do? Do I push more for the person I want or will I cause an issue with the hiring manager? How do I get her to see this person’s value?

Can I afford a $38k Tesla model 3 on a $77k salary?
I’ve driven the same beater Toyota for 10 years and it’s starting to die. 26 years old, no debt, $125k in Roth retirement accounts, $25k in cash, no other real assets. Leaving DC to telework from parents’ house for a few months so no rent (temporarily at least). I’d put $10-15k down and the rest would be a 0% loan from Mom & Dad
