That depends, what would you consider to be a "decent living"? That can mean wildly different things depending on who you ask, so it really just comes down to how grand your ambitions are. You probably won't be raking it in working for your local news outlet, so it'll likely be a minute before you climb your way to a bigger role. You could always try marrying rich and working on your career from a position of stability.
It's getting harder. Many job cuts in the field and people hired on contract, rather than staff positions, which can offer stability, benefits, etc
My Journalism lecturer famously once said, if you're in this for money you better walk out the door.
That being said, it is hard to make a living in general. I don't know as I'm working in the field of journalism, and found a route into marketing easier. That could be an option for you? The demand is high.
It can be done. I'd suggest developing a niche expertise that would let you command a premium. Also, you might want to consider a more stable career like acting.
