We have an open door policy. Management always encourage you to talk to them. In my time here, I have been pleasantly suprised at how well management have felt with personal issues, even the scary mananent have a soft side.
I agree with the comment above. You have to also have one on one's with your team and open the doors for them to feel comfortable talking to you. When they feel comfortable and know you care, they will come to you more often.
Conversation Starter
You have to build a great bond with your employees, feel you can trust one another before they come to you, if they don’t receive that vibe for you they won’t be willing to talk about any issues.
I think leaders have to model it first. If they share openly about challenges, it signals to the team that honesty is safe. Without that vulnerability, most people will stay guarded.
