Seems to me like the govt will win it. I felt those amicus briefs were stronger. The oral argument just felt better for the govt but sometimes it’s hard to tell. The questions asked seemed like the justices didn’t buy into plaintiffs arguments. But I will say I was impressed with plaintiffs attorney he may not have the winning argument but he remained composed. But if he told sotomayor that “I don’t think that’s right”, one more time I was gonna burst. There has got to be a better way to disagree with a justice.

Yeah lots of respect for the guy. He’s not even a tax person! Also, regardless of the technical merits of the case, the policy rationale will trump it. What would we do if everything is just immediately recognizable?

We’ll learn moore soon (haha)

How do I leave my role as someone on the talent team. I am on a small recruitment team of only a few people, who connect daily. I am also responsible for sending out updates tracking new hires and upcoming leavers (aka I would be on this list if i decide to leave). If I am looking to leave my company, considering all of these things, how do I do it in the least awkward, most professional way possible? I want to put in at least a two week notice, but will continuing my work after that be weird?

Have you ever taken a job you know you will hate because you needed the money right away? I have a family to take care of. I don't want to be plowing through our savings for selfish reasons like my mindframe at work, but I don't want to make our lives worse by being miserable. It's a matter of really ruining some of our financial future if we don't get money soon.

When the IRS (e.g., a RO/AO/Examiner) calls or writes a letter… How do you verify that it’s really the IRS and not a scam? I’m new to tax law and I’m worried that I’m going to respond to/answer a scam and give away client info (or my own tax preparer info). I don’t think my worry is unfounded due to the tremendous amount of tax/IRS scam out there but it would be nice to hear from some of y’all so that I’m not so worried about it…
