How difficult is to become an SEC attorney? Looking at the current attorneys’ profiles, it appears that the majority come from big law. I specialize in securities and investment litigation but work for a small firm. The SEC is my dream job.

It’s competitive. But you should apply regardless of BL background.

Networking. I live near DC and the dirty secret of federal hiring is that you stand a much greater chance of getting into your preferred agency if you know somebody there. If they want you, they will give you advice on how to get past the automatic resume screening process so your application gets into the hands of people who actually make the decision.

Not a US lawyer but I presume they would be interested in legal writing and research? Can you publish articles or parts of a book?

Look on the SEC website see what are the qualifications for SEC attorney. That JD or JD/MBA or JD/ MML carry weight. Let us know.

Currently going to school for my cannabis certification but I rarely see any jobs that offer cannabis research. I currently work in a lab/greenhouse environment and would love to continue that line of work with hemp/cannabis. Yet again no luck whatsoever, just finding jobs as budtenders or running a dispensary. Does anyone know where I can find research-based cannabis jobs? I have a degree in horticulture with lab experience.

Hey Guys. Regarding the forced layoffs in PS. It’s high time we unite and hit them back. I’ll request all people who’ll receive the video connect email from PS to do one important thing. Use a a pen camera or a hidden camera(small) in your pocket before attending the call and record the call and events. These peoples should not be spared. Try to get some evidence and let’s expose to public media and other legal teams. You can do this anonymously thereby saving others from this crap.

It is in appropriate to ask what the compensation for a position is after a first interview if they want you to go on three more and the interviewers on my first told me that was above their pay grade to tell me?????

Seems kind of ridiculous for a business to want to waste so much time to find out after a handful of interviews that the pay isnt aligned with my needs ......

I can see in biglaw not bringing up knowing damn well if you get an offer itll likely be high, but this is a midsize

I am looking for the post made by the junior associate with the voicemail from the female partner on a Friday night telling her how stupid she is. I'm a third year plaintiff's employment law attorney and I'm looking to move to defense, preferably still in employment law. I received an offer from a midsize firm that primarily focuses on PI with little-to-no employment law practice, so I'll have a bit of a learning curve. Offer is $90k, billable hours of 2100. Is this reasonable? I'm dead-set on leaving my current job, and this would be a $20k pay increase - which makes me believe I'm leaning towards taking it for those reasons only.

What’s the best way to turn down a 2nd interview? During the 1st interview, I learned that the compensation for the role is not within the range that I am looking for and requires 400 more billable hours a year than what I bill now. I’d basically be laterally for my current salary just to bill 400 more hours. I also wasn’t aware that the local office was strictly ID. Firm website advertises lots of practice areas. Any advice?
