How do associates and non-named partners obtain (plaintiff) personal injury cases? Do you advertise yourself, create a brand, all word of mouth through your network and family and friends, or something else? I get a great 40% of fees I bring in, but so far have only been able to bring in one minor MVA case (guy I went to high school with). I have been practicing for 1.5 years for reference. Trying to learn how to bring in cases

Definitely work that network of yours at this stage. LinkedIn is crucial in this regard.

Reach out to high school friends, college friends, law school friends, your friends socially that you hang out with today, and your significant others family and friends. that’s just a start. People forget what you do constantly in all facets of life, so don’t hesitate to remind them that you’re a personal injury lawyer in the simplest terms.

With regards to any of your friends working in your given geographical area, take them out to lunch, rather than drinks. The more you drink alcohol, the less you talk about work.

A lunch date is a finite amount of time (one hour usually) and you’re focused and you’re hitting on the topics that you want that person remember. your firm should pick up these expenses for business development too. And they should be paying you 50%, not 40% of what you personally bring in. Godspeed.

More like scalp what I bring in and dish it to others.
