Need help deciding if this offer is worth moving for. Received an offer from Booz Allen Hamilton for an Associate level Sr. Systems Engineer in Los Angeles for $135k base. I countered $150k and a $15k singing bonus and asked if I could be brought on as a lead associate since I've been a lead/manager for a while in my current company.
Current company TC: $125k in Utah.
YOE: 7 with M.S. and MBA
Is the switching cost/risk and higher COL worth it?

Well, it sounds a little bit like you could manage your time better and be strict with your boundaries. I think it's not the right approach to think that you're getting compensated for obsessively thinking about the work you're passionate about.
I couldn’t agree more. You do have to fight to keep your boundaries. And I am being intentional in using the word fight, it feels like a battle.
What I think about compensation is that I'm very much in favor of it. As much as possible, in fact. And I honestly don't have complaints in that department. As far as working too much, it all comes down to discipline. And having discipline is just part of being professional. You have to be able to summon ideas when they're required, that's the work. If you're thinking about ideas late at night, fair enough, but that's not really working. That's just ideas gestating. The great satirist S.J. Perelman was once asked about ideas and he said he liked to "let them steep in the deep underground vats." Same here.
