I think this year’s Summer program is going to have a big impact on the course of things. If firms that aren’t “fully flexible” don’t have enough summer associates accepting offers, it will bring change.

Summers won’t care and probably will have a better time at firms that aren’t as remote since they work a 9-5 and will get to go out on more 2-hour lunches if more people are around. Every summer I talked to during the pandemic said the experience was fine but not that great which is the opposite of my experience going in 5 days a week.
Are a lot of firms really emphasizing the back to office stuff? Mine said yeah, back to office as of March 1st, but half the people still don’t go in at all. I go in one maybe two days a week. I don’t really see that changing moving forward

It’s been a couple days in the office and which days up to practice groups but no one has enforced so far
I’d be interested to see if there’s any correlation between hours billed per day and whether the person was in the office or at home. Personally, on days I go into the office, I have to leave by 6:30 to pick up my dog from daycare, and I’m unlikely to log in again at home unless I’m on a tight deadline. In contrast, if I were working from home, I’d usually work later than that. I refuse to get up earlier for in-office days. I’m hoping firms will be more flexible if this is a common trend and people bill fewer hours because of RTO.
And then end up making up for it on the weekend 🤡

I have not gone in and many associates are not going in either

This is our RTO week. I might show up once. I don’t have time for speeches and monologues from the boomers. I mean “mentorship”….

I am the only one of my team in this office, nobody talked me about returning to the office.
I mean if they are willing to hand out a bunch more of those $275k signing bonuses I am sure they’ll find a few people who would stick it out for two years

Who’s getting 275k jeez! what can I expect as a junior in patent litigation?
