Job relocation expenses are no longer tax-deductible thanks to last month’s republican bill and this change is going to personally cost me several thousand dollars. But hey, at least now the idle rich will be able to inherit up to 22 million dollars completely tax-free.
Sorry, no sympathy.
I’m the head of a creative department and I make anti-republican statements on social media every damn day. On my personal account that doesn’t reflect my agency’s views. Big deal. I have the baseline ethical capacity to respect the people who disagree with me, and I suspect your boss is the same way. Multiple viewpoints make any department stronger and better-rounded. Maybe you’re uncomfortable expressing your true views, but you’re inflating things a bit to say admitting your Republicanism is a ‘risk’. Being openly gay in the 60s was a risk. Being a creative republican, while anomalous, is not
Director 1, sure I could look past his views if I had to work with him. But I don’t have to work with him. I get to choose who I want to work with, and I now I think he’s a self-righteous, uneducated asshole with views on the middle east which I strongly oppose. What’s interesting is that I never asked his opinion, nor did I care what he thought. He just needed to broadcast it to the world. And now that I know, I‘d rather hire someone else.
Republicans have proved themselves to be nothing but lying, cheating, thieving, traitorous scum, educated only through the filthy propagandist, anti-American Fox network. I am very happy for every single ray of honesty, patriotism, and goodness that breaks through their wall of corrupt, filthy bullshit.
Correction: that puts you at risk at almost any nyc agency
Is it his personal account? Unless he’s the owner of the company, he has no authority to impose any kind political guidelines whatsoever. And if he was posting on his personal account, you just need to grow a thicker skin
Expressing strong views either way will hurt you professionally which is why I don't talk politics or religion. Our largest account is made up of 99.9% Republicans. Every day I fear we're one crazy comment from "leadership" in losing it and laying off 25% of the company.
Just a creative Department head with a sense of patriotism, honesty, fellow citizens, fairness, the environment, and a commitment to the rule of law. No problem there.
@media strategist 1 because in order to be tolerant, you have to also be ok with people having discriminatory views. Lol.
@CD OP you know you can go get a new job at a place that better aligns with your views, right? I’m always a little surprised when people disagree with management and then decide that its management’s problem.
I don’t care for it. No doubt, advertising as an industry leans left, but there’s no reason to politicize everything. Be political on your own time, but keep the industry above that fray.
It’s simply unAmerican.
🤦🏽♀️ not much I can say as there's no point in discussing with someone who has such a closed view but will leave you with the suggestion to not only widen your media outlets but generally the type of news and viewpoints you explore.
“Liberals have zero sense of how the world really works"
As opposed to conservatives who think that racism ended in 1965, global warming is a hoax devised by Al Gore to usher in a one world socialist government, and that the biggest problem facing America today is that the rich don’t have enough money.
Who's says the creative is a HE anyways.
SVPECD agreed. The CD is probably trans

Ok true about the thin skin. But if your cco was posting anti Obama screeds would it affect how you feel at work? And I agree with ad1...our conservative clients may see his posts and
rethink working with someone who is so political
I feel bad I’m late to this party but I’m sure if a CCO made anti-Obama remarks calling him out on any one of his lies, flying a dog on an Osprey helicopter, or negotiating with terrorists, they would be labeled as a racist and fired immediately. I’m also sure the agency would have to bring in therapy dogs and build a safe space with counselors to encourage employees not to go on strike until said CCO was inevitably fired.
However, since it’s the Trump administration we’re talking about, CCO is in the right and you need to grow thicker skin. 🙄🤣
What happens when the client feels that way? Their will be a hellova lot of accounts up for review.
👆definitely doesn't read anything else outside of CNN
Actually I'm a right in the middle person who goes to both CNN and Fox and somewhat chuckles at both. I think the social issues that fox and republicans focus on are stupid and they overreact about the smallest change and I think liberals have zero sense of how the world really works, cry about everything, and preach tolerance but are the most intolerant people ever. I think anyone not in the middle is crazy, but liberals scare me way more than republicans.
I agree. CNN is garbage. 100% miserable, 100% of the time. Have a Coke and a smile.
