How do you deal with coming out at work? Had a recent experience where my boss pointed me out as the average representation of a white person in the US. And this is when we were discussing Trump. Regardless of my sexuality, I would never be associated with the alt-right.
I feel the same way. It was much easier when I was dating someone but now it kinda feels like im inserting it into a conversation instead of it happening organically. I don't really think it's necessary for people to know, I just don't want to be perceived one way when I'm the opposite.
@Starcom 2 while that may be true for your friend or some queer people, we don't all act stereotypically gay. I'd have to disagree with you about people already knowing with all gay people.
@Starcom that's one of the most self centred reactions you can have when a friend comes out to you. Good work.
your boss sounds a little obtuse. I've dropped it into conversations with those I feel comfortable with and haven't felt any backlash. I sometimes go back and forth about whether it's even something I want to share with colleagues.
In NYC people usually have a strong gaydar but can't say the same for lesbians.
Trust me they know already. People are not as dumb as you think and you are not as hidden as you think. They are just waiting for you to say something so you can stop dancing around the obvious. Good friend came out to me recently and all I could say was it about time he realized it we knew for years.
"Don't want to be perceived one way when I'm the opposite." That's just part of being human. Everyone you meet has a preconceived notion of you, whether it's about your sexual orientation, ethnicity, intelligence, etc. Agreed that's much easier to drop references about your S.O. and letting the other person figure it out from there. If single, maybe you could talk about volunteering with the local LGBT center when someone asks you about your weekend (and go actually do it!) or just put something really gay on your desk.

If you want to find the gays in the Publicis Groupe agencies (Saatchi, Leo, Digital, BBH, Starcomm, Zenith, Fallon, Sapient etc) check out the LGBT group Egalite.
👍🏽 yes egalite! 🌈

So all of the gays are at Digitas and Saatchi. Any Fish?
