HR should 100% be a third party entity, like the cost consultants we have to use.
A shitty HR department comprised of women who obviously hate other women.
HR is like the criminal justice system - they don’t serve the interests of the proletariats and the system ain’t broken. It’s working exactly as it was designed to do, despite the lip service they pay. They are there to protect primarily land and property, or in this case the company and its profitability. And maybe if you are lucky, you can squeeze some justice out of there if a good person just happens to occupy that post.

HR is hostage to what the leadership decides, they’re not super powerful. Many of the individuals would like to be able to help people but their hands are tied.
Same applies to any bullying or inappropriate behavior that is left unchecked by HR.... however it is leadership and the exec team that need to be held accountable. HR can really only make recommendations and help a company mitigate risks; it is the business leaders who need to fall on their swords if they haven’t acted when they should have. I hope that there is a shift in a culture happening that actually means leadership are more scared about keeping the bullies, sex pests, etc than they are about containing accusations
I agree and I’ve been very curious to hear if HR folks feel guilty for the stuff they’ve hidden.
