I take a break from work and do something I enjoy outside of work. Sometimes this is just taking a few days off, and other times it's finding a new hobby that takes me away from work-related thoughts.
I take a step back and evaluate my habits. I make sure that I am taking time for myself and that I am not overworking myself. If I find that I am struggling, I reach out to someone for help. I've done therapy in the past and I still do it regularly.
I take some time for myself to relax and do something that I enjoy. This can be anything from reading to going for a walk with my dogs. I also make sure to take breaks during the day, even if it's just for five minutes, to refresh and recharge so that I can continue working productively.

In our clinic we usually close for 1 hour when everyone is allowed to sleep, this time varies according to the working days. We are specialists in the laboratory field.
Since graduating I have not been able to rest again, but I think that every time I help an animal friend I feel that I become stronger and can endure more.
It's a very serious problem around here... we see a lot of animals that have to be put down and it's really heartbreaking. I'm really fortunate because the team I work with is amazing, we are very open with each other and share our feelings when we need to. A lot of times one of us will need to step outside for some fresh air when things are really tough, and the others will step in and give them that freedom.
When I find out a foolproof method, I will tell you... failing that, I just try to take everything in stride. It's tough when animals die or when they get very sick and it can be hard to keep an upbeat attitude if my favorite animal gets sold and I don't get to see it anymore. There will always be others, though. Be gentle with yourself and allow yourself to grieve when you need to.
I take my time off work very seriously. I let myself think about the job while I'm driving home; but once I pull into the driveway, I leave my work behind. It has to be that way or I will get bogged down, and I owe my family more than that.
