How do you deal with guilt when issues related to your product occur? (missed requirement, defect that should have been caught migrating to prod, etc.). The expectations and pressure are daunting.

Care less. And that’s for you personally. You still have to do the work, take accountability and make the fixes. But it probably won’t matter in the long run so stop letting it bug you today.

Surely there are checks and balances outside of just you. Shake off the perfectionism and know you did a good job. No one delivers without mistakes... ever. Learn from it and do better next time!

As long as nobody was harmed, I try not to let it get to me too much. Things happen, and nobody is perfect, neither is every product. Just own it and take the necessary steps to correct the issue.

Fix the defects, prioritize your backlog, and don't sweat it. If a "requirement" was missed, work with your team and stakeholders.

1.) How or why it was missed
2.) What the impact was (was it waste anyway?)

This is iconic because of how true it is. Give yourself some grace.

Also just to add on to the above. Part of product is making the best decisions you can with incomplete information. Sometimes things are just uncovered once it’s released. It didn’t only get past you, it got past everyone else involves in the product. It’s not worth getting hung up on this. Do the retros, think about how to prevent in the future but move on from it.

On the topic of intimacy with partners… I’ve been with my boyfriend for 2 years and the past year his libido has dropped to zero. Mostly due to work stress (he says). Whenever I try to initiate, he always shuts me down and says he’s not in the mood. I even touch him and he gets hard but stops me as soon as I try to unzip him. We went from once a week to maybe once a quarter.

I’ve talked to him about it and he says I should take care of myself. So frustrated. 😭😭

Happy wife happy life is a really toxic saying. I’m just shocked how this has become the standard saying for men in relationships. I have friends of mine saying this all the time, and I have just thought it’s so cringe and always want to say my thoughts on it but always decide to hold back. However, imagine the saying reversed - happy husband happy life - that would lead to all kinds of uproar. To me happy wife happy life means I need to sacrifice my wants and needs to make my wife happy.
