I have been in consulting for a while but now have 2 little kids. I have decided it isn’t worth it. Starting to look for other things.
Set boundaries with your teams, take your PTO and learn to say “no” to “great developmental opportunities”. Not that I am good any of the above. I feel consulting enables me to have a fulfilling career and pays well enough for my wife to stay at home. I also try to protect 5-8 pm every week day to spend time with kids, have dinner as a family and help with bedtime routine. I usually return to work after kids go to bed and work late hours.
