Re-prioritize your time. I personally don't believe writing a custom tailored resume for each application is good ROI. Your post is proof that it's not working if you're still hustling to get a job. Redirect your energy to enhancing your skills, which of course you can add to your resume.
Redirect the energy man. Take an hour or two for job hunting, or two or three hours to work on projects, then stay on the prowl. I personally preferred the latter
Forget side projects: Focus on getting a job. Any self-training you do should be in service of job-hunting: If you apply to a job that requires X, then study up on X.
