Be honest about which piece you like most. Explain why. Tell them you haven’t been presented with the opportunity to be as creative in recent years and you’re really excited because you think their job is going to present you with the type of challenges that will really let your work shine again.
I don't think these questions are ever truly meant to review your creative skill set. They've likely already seen your portfolio.
As long as you can talk about how you used your creative prob solving skills, sprinkle in some collaboration efforts, and throw in some customer satisfaction, they'll be impressed by your project.
You are 100% correct D1. I ask this question all the time to see how people think, how they sell their work, and how they express their passion for the work.
You’re already answering the question in your post OP!
Be honest, or make some shit up that you think they want to hear.
Any production with a great story. They’ve seen your work and have probably already formed an opinion. Just spin a great yarn about something you made.
Just answer it, tell them why you like it and that you’d love to do more stuff like that. A lot of times, they just want to hear your thinking behind the campaign and any problem solving you had to do alone the way.
I think I messed up the interview. But based on your answers, I may not have. My answer was around the challenges I faced and problems I solved during the project! What I felt was a turn-off for interviewees was how old the project was, and it didn't relate to their project/client! Oh well, lesson learned for the next one!
There is only so much I can do. Thank you for your advice. I learned instead of focusing on what I think is the best campaign; I should focus on selling the ones that are close to their projects /clients.
I don’t know if there’s a lesson to learn from that experience, because the next person who asks that question, may not be looking for the same type of answer. The truth of the matter is that this is kind of a crap shoot. One answer may be awesome to someone and not great for someone else. I believe, as many people have said here, what’s important is not so much what piece you choose. It’s what you say about it and how.
Keep us posted!
