For UK based colleagues- has anyone done self assessment with HMRC although we are part of PAYE? Last year I switched entities and had stocks vest. So apparently went over £100k with sticks vesting. Superficially I made over £100k, but about 50% of vested shares go to paying tax and NIC. I’m a bit baffled as to how I fill out the self assessment form. I had no other income so one would think it’s straightforward… there are questions about foreign investment. Would RSUs be foreign investment? Amazon

I create time between each to decompress and focus if that makes sense. I'll leave a little early for work and just spend a few minutes in my car journaling or listening to a self-help video on a related topic. Like MS1 said, time is also the best healer, but finding little outlets help while you're waiting.

Personal Life overwhelmed, you need more to that
I have no idea. One inevitably impacts the other. If I'm stressed at work, it bleeds into my home life. If I'm stressed at home, it bleeds into my work life. The only way to keep that from happening is to deal with whatever's causing the stress, instead of trying to avoid it or distract yourself. You have to treat the disease, not the symptom.
That can be a real challenge. It's good to try to compartmentalize, but our minds are often not so easy to control. Last year I was going through a breakup, and I can recall days when it was hard to stay focused at work. So work wasn't a great distraction, to be honest. The only thing that really helped, ultimately was just having some time go by.

Two suggestions:
1. I find exercise helps when I’m stressed. So that or try to find another healthy habit that can be a buffer at the start or end of your day.
2. To focus - schedule meetings on you worn calendar for specific work items you need time to do. I feel like when I’m overwhelmed at home I can spend half the day thinking about what I need to at work and then I lost that time plus my calendar is swamped with other peoples meetings.
If none of those work, a stiff Manhattan can help occasionally 🍻
I struggle with this at times too. It’s definitely got better as ive gotten older. But in my 20s and in my early 30s if something was happening to my personal life forget about it. I would struggle at work, especially if I was having relationship issues. I think you just have a grow up and mature and that’s what
Went through a really rough patch a bit ago, work was great for my mental health when it involved being out of the office. Other than that I found the mental load from personal issues and work were just overwhelming
