Keep looking for a better fit while cashing these checks.
Been there. I think it’s great you took the job if it’s serving you for now. YES to accumulating metrics. Would encourage you to be empowered in your own growth path with this company, continue to apply to jobs, or both. Your metrics will serve you either way. I’d personally shift out of this dynamic sooner than later (being more skilled than your boss). Some can handle it but I personally need a space where my gifts can shine. I stayed in a backwards dynamic too long and it really took a toll.
Yeah you're just gonna nudge her on out of there.
But don't be a prick about it.
Do you want to stay with the company?
Ill assume yes.
I’d start building a relationship with your manager’s boss - or whoever has decision making approval. Schedule a 1x1 meeting. Get to know them. Show them your true talent and that you’re ready and willing to take on more responsibility.
If you’re the one driving results - and can show you can also operate at the director level - making strategic suggestions - being a leader - then your managers role will appear redundant and you will showcase through action that you’re ready for the role.
But if you’re not passionate about the company or clients, then generate as many tangible results in the next 3 months and leverage those for your next role.
Prove that you can do her job as well as, if not better, than she can. I was once told that if you do the work of the job that you want to have then there would be no question if you are able to when reviews came around. If they see you handling the same things that she does but better they should have no choice but to give you a raise and a higher position (this of course all hinges upon the company being level headed and fair and rewarding good work without harboring any type of bias or engaging in unhealthy business politics)
Why did you take the job?
> because I’m in need of a job
