I try to change the perspective. Instead of saying, “I have to work out”, I say that “I get to work out.”
Plus, when the work out is done, you’ll be proud of yourself for showing up and feel good, too!

Yes I always feel good after a workout!
I would sleep more. Sleeping less to try to work out but then failing because you’re burned out is making you worse not better.
Conversation Starter
Hmm true, I need to either pick morning or evening to workout so I either sleep earlier or later!
I was the same, but I wanted to get in better shape because I felt that my metabolism has gone down with age and I was starting to gain weight. I was tired, I was not motivated to hit the gym. Then I started doing group crosstraining workouts and realized that I loved working out in a group setting, meaning I can follow directives, not think about what to do, the order of exercices, the machines availability, I can just follow the group and we motivate each other. I also realized that workouts did wonders to my mental health and I had more energy in general thanks to it. If you live in a city, look up group classes, they often have free trials or cheaper few first classes.

Yes I feel like I’m more motivated to join a class rather than a gym, I find gyms to intimidating!
I'm not saying this to be dismissive, but make sure you get to a doctor and get your blood panel done so they can rule out any possible cause for the exhaustion beyond burn out. It turned out I had incredibly low iron and vitamin D. I'm still burnt out, but I am burnt out and still somewhat functional compared to how I used to be 😂 Other than that, try your best to get on a solid sleep schedule. No screens before bed, definitely no doom scrolling.

No I have been thinking about going to the doctor to check this out, did they give you vitamins to help you or something else?
Mostly here to follow the conversation - looking for some ideas. I am the same.
I know that I have SAD, so the change in daylight hours is already helping me out. But the biggest thing so far to get more energy in the day is my Bipap. I should have gone to a sleep specialist sooner. I truly didn't realize how much it would help. Took a few masks to figure out which one worked best for me, but once I did, even in winter, I've been starting to feel more energized when I wake up.
The other thing i recently started doing more consistently was using my sleep app BetterSleep. I set up a sleep routine with a brainwave hypnosis for overthinking, the military method for sleep audio, and a relaxing sound set. Originally, I wasn't doing it consistently, but once I started being consistent, I noticed better sleep and more energy. I also turn it on in the middle of the night if I wake up, which I 100% do at least once each night.
I'm not all the way there yet, but these have been a start.

Yes it’s so annoying, especially when you’re trying to get the rest!
Honestly, my workouts are the only thing that gives me energy. I have to push myself to get there, but I always feel so much better when I am done. I don't think it's motivation that keeps me going though; I think it is discipline.
Conversation Starter
Yes I think I’m lacking the discipline 🤣🤣

Try and find alternatives that are fun. I switched from the gym to more upbeat social things like boxing classes or salsa.

Oh that’s good! I find that gyms are quite expensive in the UK so I’ve gone for the cheaper one which isn’t as fun!
I've been trying to reward myself when I go to the gym. I don't let myself get an iced coffee from Starbucks unless I go to the gym. That's been really helping me, weirdly enough. I don't go every day but I go probably three days a week and it's something I look forward to because I love iced coffee

Oh I loveee this idea!! I’m going to try and do this!
Get fatter and say “maybe next year”
Conversation Starter
Been doing this for a few years now!
