Microsoft OneNote. You can share them with others as needed by giving them access to a specific note or folder of notes. Fantastic for going back to see what was discussed in meetings and who agreed to which actions, timelines, etc

likesmart

It depends. Either by hand or Microsoft OneNote or Outlook note.

Mid-meeting I just use notepad++ and write in shorthand. After the meeting I clean it up so those notes can be disseminated. Once I do they’re filed away with all the other notes regarding that project/subject/customer etc.

Pen and notebook

like

Internal meetings, pen/paper or just a notepad doc.

Unstructured client calls, word doc or notepad doc.

Structured client calls: pretemplated Excel.

For whatever reason, I’m anti-OneNote

like

If there’s a written agenda for a structured call I type my initial notes on it, but I love your idea of an Excel template!

Notion is the best Ive come across so far. It's customizable, sharable, and easy to use

Onenote best way to take notes.

like

Because I’m on design meeting and they tend to go all over I use otter.ai app that records the meeting and highlights re-used keywords as I take notes on a google doc. I then go back and re-listen in case I miss details or comments that would be important for all parties to circle back on. For the design team I make a power point with product notes and following pages for my direct supervisor to touch base with our buyer on.

It has made my PowerPoint notes better for the team and has allowed me to be more involved in the meetings this way!

like

Oh yes, I’m in fashion retail. I do let the buyers know I record the conversation to make notes for the design team and they’re always more than welcome to it. It was a fun ice breaker.

like

Otter, the note-taking AI. Not perfect, but pretty damned impressive

like

I was just gifted a Rocketbook -- very cool. You should check it out for notetaking.

like

Recording? Just in case you need to revisit details. Hand-written notes to take high level critical points. Work off of the hand notes, then visit recording if necessary.

like

Just for me -- Pen & notebook. For meeting minutes, One Note so I can send out quickly.

like

You can record meetings to listen the playback to supplement/fill in your notes. In Teams, for example, you can record (with participant consent) and transcribe the meeting.

helpful

iPad notes app or one note

I started using my Rocketbook at work and love it. Can email pdf of notes and it can scan as a searchable pdf. Believe you can also have it transcribed to a word doc. Still playing with the settings and stuff. Best of both worlds for pen and paper and saving digitally

Pen, notebook, and phone to record the meeting.

Import the meeting from the phone into Office365 Word, and have it transcribe the meeting into printable format.

Take notes in outlook and save them as drafts so I can always search and find them

Haha notes that is funny, I just google stuff...

Depends. For meetings I generally don’t. I have ADHD that makes it extremely difficult if not impossible for me to take useful notes while also staying meaningfully engaged in the conversation. As a result, I concentrate on being present in the meeting and jot down any action items for myself that come up during the meeting in a physical notebook. For independent work I usually don’t take much in the way of notes either- it either goes right into the final deliverable to get edited down later on or I’ll type it into the sticky notes app built into windows 10, but it’s crude.

It’s total chaos but it’s what works for me.

Hello Fam Law attys!

I am in my second year as a attorney, I was a FL paralegal before law school and would eventually like to end up there again. I am in a very small rural area, pretty much only solos, and no FL solos appear to be hiring/expanding at this time.

Do you think experience as a DA or PD would be valuable, with my eye toward a future in FL? Both for the skills gained, and/or as a resume piece?

TY!

Additional Posts in Career Pivot

I’ve been with my current company for a little over 5 years now and since the start of the pandemic have been WFH. I absolutely love WFH and have always wanted a position in which I could WFH. There is talk of bringing everyone back to the office full time and that’s not what I would like to happen. I’ve been searching for a new position in which it would be a remote role. My current company also said I am maxed out in term of what they are willing to pay salary wise.

Do companies sometimes offer "gifts of appreciation" if you're not selected for a merit increase? My manager randomly called me to let me know I was chosen for the "gift" this year bc of my "hard work & dedication", except now I'm learning other colleagues are receiving actual merits.
I mean it's possible that I may receive a merit, but I feel like I won't considering my manager never brought it up & the dept update made it sound like those receiving it should know by now.

Any advice on where to go after PR (financial & healthcare)? I have one year of experience and have been pretty disappointed with my current agency. I have a been actively interviewing & was thinking to go into the sales route. I graduated in 2021 and really have no idea where I want to end up. I’ve been talking to people & networking trying to figure out next steps— could use some insight. The culture at my current agency isn’t the best & the pay is basically unlivable for NYC. Any thoughts?

Made a career pivot to another agency. During the interview we talked about how it may start as initially a "step backwards" (pay/benefits) but has potential for more long term growth. First day was yesterday. Had no communication about when or where to show up, sat in an empty office for about half an hour before a couple people finally showed. No phone call or email. Sent an email to the founder, no response. I could easily get my old job back if wanted.

What would you do in this situation?
