Fold the pants while they’re inside of dry cleaning plastic (prevents wrinkles). Turn one sleeve of the jacket inside out, and then nest its shoulder inside the other one. Then fold the whole thing in half top to bottom (shoulders touching the bottom hem). Then put it in your checked bag/roller carry on. When you get to the hotel, hang both in the bathroom and blast the shower as hot as it goes. The steam gets ~70% of the jacket wrinkles to fall out, and any that are left you can steam out with the iron. The shoulder pad won’t last as long, but I got too fed up with wearing a jacket on the plane. I also got some blazers designed for travel that don’t have shoulder pads which has been really nice. Hope that helps!
Suit bag, laptop bag, and carry on - I maybe get caught one in every 10 times, in which case I check my carry on. YMMV. Another option is to jam pack as much in your suit bag and fit your laptop bag in your carry on, and then remove it once in the plane.
I just suck it up and check a Briggs and Riley garment bag. Sure I have to wait at the airport an extra half an hour each way, but all of my clothes are perfectly wrinkle free. The time I lose at the airport is more than made up with speed of packing and not ironing during the week.
But ironing every evening... 🤮
I have a travelpro carry-on suitcase with a folding suit compartment. Never had any issue with it
There are some really excellent videos on YouTube on how to fold suits for packing. It works
