How is the demand for CPA’s currently? Is the job market still in our favor, of finding a decently paying job or is it pretty dried up. Sincerely someone who is about to join the Job hunt search

Fewer and fewer students are continuing to major in accounting to begin with (especially CPA route) and 75% of CPAs will be retiring within the next 15 years. You're good.

I’m seeing lots of jobs out there. I’ve accepted a bunch of LinkedIn requests from recruiters so my feed is about new jobs everyday they’re trying to fill. Most seem to be hybrid (3 days in/ 2 days out). I think a CPA at any level could easily get a bunch of interviews.

Market is as hot as itll ever be

It depends on your level. A CPA who is an experienced senior or manager (reviewing, supervising, managing clients) won't have any problems.

It's not the feeding frenzy of the last 2 years, though. Salaries have leveled off--still rising, but not at the crazy rate of the last couple years.

Definitely stronger than a lot of professions. Especially if you get licensed!

Interesting all the noise about these PPT, my take:

The pandemic took all the upside of an IB analyst life (client meetings in person, fancy trips, suit up, worshiped at networking events) and left all the juniors with the downside (long hours, monkey-like type of job, aggressive work environment).

Not that the complaints are not sort of legitimate but you may need to revise the decision-making process that led you to accept a return offer. Specially if you were looking for less hours.

Hi, I’m currently working as a recruiter in the light industrial and I’m really sick of the non stop calls, interviews and just the nature of this profile. Earlier I was contemplating moving to another field in recruitment but now I’m considering switching to another profile in HR where I can do backend processes/ payroll/ hr systems, cz I want to leave the calls and interviews and sourcing.. please suggest profiles I could take a dig in and explore? Thanks in advance

UPDATE (RE: SoCal Assistant Controller Interview)

So after two weeks of waiting (and giving up on the idea of getting the job really), the recruiter got back to me.

They said due to month-end and quarter-end close they were busy and couldn’t get back to me as quickly for a “good update”.

The recruiter said the CFO enjoyed our call, she, the CFO, will call me next week directly to “discuss some final things”.

Not sure if Im hired or not, but are there any questions about the job, comp (cont.)

If you make it to senior manager at big four can you leave and become partner or director at mid size firm? Is this hard to do? I know there is a lot of politics at big four and have no interest staying in a senior manager role for 6-8 years and risk a chance of still not becoming partner. Also I got a long way to go before senior manager fyi.
