Foreigners - have you heard about green card interviews? Sounds like they are reinstated from October 1
How good/bad EY is, when it comes to supporting immigrants with GC, I140 process. Looking for inputs regarding: - Typical timelines for I140 approval - Responsiveness of Law firm - Support with moving to other offices if h1b expires - Pausing/resuming application process multiple times About to make a decision on an offer, but would love know more about the above.
I graduated with a marketing degree and had to take a job that could sponsor my visa. Now I'm 25 and thinking to go to portfolio school for AD. Any recommendations? Or career advice?
As we navigate the numerous challenges and roadblocks that come with being on a visa in America, what are some things you wish you had to support your mental health? Looking for ideas as I am in the process of designing a program that can support international people in dealing with these issues ( including me).
In case H1B gets denied (I hope that doesn’t happen), what countries have you considered moving to besides Canada. Indian national and pending transfer to MBB if that helps.
I've written on my resume that I'm a US Citizen (literally the first thing on the next line after my name) but literally every HR person I've spoken to recently immediately asks if I need visa sponsorship. Is it just something that ATS doesn't screen for usually? I'd hope a human is actually reading my resume. I don't want to be that person that says "yes, it's on my resume" lol
I am H1B and I’ve started my GC process. my husband is also on H1B but won’t get his GC sponsored until his next job. What happens if he has started the GC process but by then his H1B had run out? Can he still work while it’s pending with an application for EAD? Can he work as H4 under my H1B till I get my GC issued?
Does anyone know if Deloitte is still filling green card applications for audit? I looked up on Dnet and seems like it’s paused for advisory, but just wanted to confirm. Also, how can I start this conversation with a partner to obtain sponsorship approval? I don’t think any of the partners I worked with is familiar with the process, so I’m lost with how to initiate this convo. Lastly, I know this varies case by case, but how long does it typically take from initiating the app to rec the card? TY
What will you do to celebrate your green card?
This is a long shot but wondering if anyone has experienced this. I just changed to H1B status last Oct and my bank mailed me recently after tax filing deadline (I have filed tax in time using H&R block) asking me to fill out W9 if I am a resident alien / another form if I am not. This has never happened in previous years. Does it mean I missed a form using H&R block or is it related to the status change…?
Can you apply for Diversity Lottery while u r on non immigrant visa (F1, H1B, O1)? Would this action cause conflict from dual intent perspective nd jeopardize ur employment based GC in future?
Hi folks - Any recommendations for a good immigration lawyer? Looking for some guidance on my wife’s OPT/H4/EAD
I’ve job offer and they’re starting with H1B transfer. I will be joining them after approval. current employer H1B/i94 both valid till 2021. I need to go to UK for 3wk for work from current employer..
Got an intracompany transfer offer for US and Australia - where should I head? Longterm goal: live in the US and work in tech (esp. Google). US offer: L1B visa, not transferable to other companies. Greencard uncertain. TC n/a but probably 🥜 Australia: work visa transferable, Sydney or Melbourne. Work in AU, switch to Google -> relocate to US. TC probably 🥜 too
I hope to get some thoughtful responses from this post and nothing more. I work for a mid-tier firm after working for big 4s, I joined here after being let go. Having worked for a year, I kind of have this constant thought in my mind that my next lay off is coming. Reasons I think I don’t meet the expectations- in a way my work quality is average. Given am on H1b and a family man, this constant thought of lay off is driving me so crazy that I fear might take me to depression. What should I do?
Is Accenture sponsoring H1B at M& SM levels? If so, how responsive is their legal team for H1B / GC related filings?
Hello folks, currently in the US with the H1 visa stamped in the passport with valid I 94. If I travel to India, are there any restrictions to travel back? Thanks!
I have just recently taken a contract position as Director of Compliance at a Fin-Tech company, while my past 17 years of Compliance experience have just been in the financial industry. Does anyone know what the average salary is for Director Of Compliance in the Fin-Tech industry? I’m making next to nothing and have a sinking feeling that accepted the wrong salary.
United airlines... wtf
Should I be concerned for my career with lack of billable projects? Background: Analyst hired out of undergrad in July 2020. I have worked on 3 proposals in the last 2 weeks, and 5 in the last 2 months. In the past year since I was hired, I have 8 months of billable work which is actually slightly higher than the other Analysts I joined with. Should I keep collecting paychecks and hoping for projects, or is this a serious issue that should prompt an exit strategy?
Anyone still get jitters before a call/interview/presentation? How do I get rid of it? Its been this way for many years.
Hi recently I moved from Australia to India. Looking for IT Delivery roles (SLA Mgmt, Client Mgmt, incident/change mgmt…etc). Are there any such jobs in india? YOE-19, on-site exp - 10
How is Frontier to fly? I generally stick with American or United, but some friends I’m planning a ski trip with are lobbying for Frontier because it has nonstop from DCA to DEN (admittedly more convenient than IAD for anyone that lives inside the beltway in DC area, but there are many more United nonstop options out of IAD in case there’s a delay or cancellation). Thoughts?
How much money is enough money? Interviewing with a bunch of companies but dont know how to make a tradeoff between the role and culture vs comp. How do y'all think about comp?
I’ve been thinking about this for a while now. I want to get into management consulting and have been told my experience is too audit focused (been in audit for 5 years and now a manager). I’ve been told the next step in order to be “considered” is get your MBA from one of the top few ranking universities (I’m in Canada). Not sure if spending 100k on an MBA, for the possibility of getting into management consulting is worth it. Any way to increase my odds? I’m no longer a spring chicken..
Hi ladies. First long-haul flight in quite sometime and I’ve forgotten how to prep. I have the essentials (NC 🎧, 📚, iPad etc) looking for easy-to-miss/forget life savers. What am I missing?
Went to a top uni but got average grades - was perhaps overly committed to volunteering plus military reserve service inc 2 deployments. Looking at moving from big 4 strategy & transformation consulting to a T2/ MBB with 2 YOE. How much will they care about grades? It’s the major thing putting me off. Kearney McKinsey & Company Boston Consulting Group
Anyone at Deloitte have some insight on the Strategic Communications and Change Management positions for analyst and consultant? What to expect in the final interview? Base salary + bonus? WLB? Asking for a relative! Deloitte
Considering an opportunity as a Business Partner with an analytics group at a cyber security company in the valley. Current Manager at Big4. Would represent a step up in total comp but wondering if it’s viewed as a step backwards in career progression?
Turned in my 2 wks. EM asked me to stay for another week bc manager will be on parental leave around the same time (and sounds like EM is pressuring him as well). Should I consider at all?? Felt a bit guilty to leave the pressure on the manager…
I’m 28 years old and just realized that I make more money than a surgeon just to make ppt slides. Life is insane and we are all incredible lucky. Keep grinding kings
I can't wait 'til the day I can quit. As audit ain't nothing but bullshit. Audit programs won't be a bore. Time entry won't be a chore. Realization, billable hours will be no more.
Transferring from one HCOL city to another later this year. LinkedIn shows salaries for my level are 2% higher in the new city. Any advice on negotiating a raise with HR before my transfer? Trying not to be in the dark on my salary post-transfer until the last minute (I’m cynical and worried they might even try to pull off a slight reduction), and ideally I want at least a slight raise.
My ~60 person group at my firm has only 5 women in it. Is there any excuse at all for this? Every project I’m on feels like the old boys club
