As long as you keep your bourbon out of sunlight, there should not be any degradation of quality for at least several years. Longest I’ve had a bottle open was close to 4 years and never noticed any decline in flavor. Currently have a dozen that are past the year mark. Store them upright in a dark room and you’ll be fine. Every couple of months give them a quick shake to keep the cork wet, but otherwise don’t sweat it.
I’ve heard you’re good for 6-12 months
Does wrapping the bottle top buy you more time? Guess you could also spray argon into the bottles as well
I have an open bottle of the discontinued Heaven Hill 6 year that is turning 3 years old this spring. I haven’t touched it in a few months but was fine when I had it last. Also worth noting that it’s a glass bottle with plastic screw top
For nicer bottles, 6-8 months.
For casual bottles, no more than a month
Thank you for the responses!!

I have nursed a few high end bottles for years, no issues. But usually from a few weeks to a few months. I keep at least a dozen bottles open at any given time.

I’ve had a ton of bottles open for like 5+ years. Some probably 10 or more. Have only had one issue where it got cloudy and it got a bunch of sediment and I had to toss it.
It was my ORVW 23 year old family reserve 😩

C1 - this is just a stock photo.
P2 - I got rid of it a few years back.
I start making sure I finish them at the 1 year mark, sometimes harder for really nice bottles but I usually have 25 or 30 open at a time.
