There are SO many great companies out there besides the 5 that make up that acronym. Personally my sweet spot is companies with ~1,000 people, less bureaucracy and you can actually make an impact. I worked at LinkedIn and I would never again want to be at such a big company, unless maybe I was looking to have kids and wanted to coast

It’s not a problem to want to join FAANG but so many people put them on a pedestal and it’s unfortunate because there are so many companies that are different sizes and spaces that are great.
0 too afraid of rejection 😅
You have to put yourself out there sis!

Twice. First time, a FB recruiter reached out to me and then a week after our initial phone call, it turns out they wanted someone with more experience so I didn’t even get a chance to interview for the role.
Second time, I applied for a job at Amazon after a friend of a former coworker referred me. I can’t even remember if they sent me an automated reject email or if I logged into their portal to see if I was no longer being considered.
Both times were discouraging so I’ve avoided FAANG companies ever since lol. I’ll just keep telling myself I’m happy making less and that is the price I pay to having great WLB 🥲
Yeah, the trade off for a good WLB is def a good one
3x so far. Soon to be 5 : )
I have applied 4 times and been rejected all 4. I am not giving up though. I don't take it personal, its really a numbers game getting hired anywhere

Honestly FAANG does not appeal to me at this time. I interviewed once as a software engineer (so very early in my career). Joining then might’ve been interesting because it was much smaller (10 years ago).
I'm not sure I can count that high... search your network for an internal referral, it is sometimes the only thing that even might have a chance of impacting the black hole.
