How much do counsel at asset management firms typically make? This would be with 10 YOE.

I am currently making $220 TC at a F500 in a HCOL and am wondering what's reasonable.

I’m coming up on 10 YOE (VHCOL) - books are still closing for this year, but last year I made $540k (base + bonus + liquid profit share) plus closed-end carry. Should be a bit more this year.

like

Actually, yes, for 5-7 YOE w/ biglaw funds formation exp in NYC.

Junior counsel at MCOL asset firm. Remote and base of $135k, target bonus 10%. Pretty decent benefits. In house straight out of law school.

like

At the top of the market it will match biglaw.

220k is low.

like

I was where you are at 10 YoE. I am not at 16 YOE making ~310k base, $140 bonus, and $30k equity comp vesting over 3yr period. HCOL but fully remote.

like

im close to ur TC as an in house counsel and im 4YOE . you are underpaid

I’m a little above that with 5 YOE in asset management, also HCOL area. This feels underpaid for your YOE.

So, after a year of not so quietly making it known that I wanted to make the transition from the tech side to the business side I have officially been extended an offer to take on a Project Manager internally (coming from a software configurer). The client I have been assigned to has many of our products, however, the specific project I have been assigned to is a problem child and has damaged the companies relationship with the client. Any advice for a new, young PM being shoved into a problem?

I have to support my family financially. Usually my mom cooks for the family so groceries only cost $1200/month. However, my mom is abroad for 2 months so it’s just my siblings and they can’t cook so they’ve been using my card for doordash. I think there are days when they spend $100+/day. It’s frustrating because my mom already told them the daily budget repeatedly. I’ll go bankrupt at that rate. However, it’s not like I can take my card back since I don’t want them to starve…

Very specific to retail and/or hospitality in-house roles: has anyone found a good solution for predictive scheduling? Our retail division has one set of software for scheduling and one for payroll, and neither of them can handle predictive scheduling compliance issues unless they’re used for both the scheduling and payroll functions. I’m coming up empty on ideas for them to bridge the gap, but I’m also new to my compliance counsel role, so I would be overjoyed if anyone has suggestions.
