I like my job and the people I work with. But I’m very interested in FIRE because I want my time back. There is a lot more to life than work and, to me, FIRE gives you the freedom / option to do other things
This!
I am more into the FI, currently working a job that pays great! However, I thought I could make myself like it - I am disliking it more with each passing week. I have identified what I want to do and it isn’t a major shift so I am looking to change. Will either do it with my current firm or leave (currently interviewing outside). I think it would be about a 10% pay cut, but I’ll take that if it means I enjoy it and my career is going in a direction I want it to long term.
I like my job 70% of the time, but it is the lack of personal time and unrealistic working hours that makes me not like it most of the 30%. Since that is the case, I would rather jump when I can and do something on my own time and schedule and then the money is a bonus. But hkestly, even people not making alot and doing FIRE, how many people do you knkw actually love their job all the time?
I started pursuing FIRE cause I hated my job. After a year on the Path of FIRE I couldn’t take it (my job) anymore and quit. I love my current job but still pursuing FIRE in case I get that awful feeling again.
I don't like my job anymore. I only do it because of the income it provides.
I think you’re on to something. I enjoy work and want to keep working into my 70s. I just want to have a flexible schedule, work 2 days a week and have less stress. I have found that since I’ve become FI I enjoy my job more-because I don’t HAVE to do it.
I hate my job, so yeah, it’s a means to an end.
I like my current well-paying job. I just want to get to FI sooner rather than later. I work in an industry that values youth. I've also seen too many people I know put off saving, and either get sick and have to retire or get laid off in their late 50's and then no one will hire them. I'd love to have time back to do more traveling, hiking, hobbies, etc... I'm on track to FI by 50 (I started late).
Mentor
I don't. I used to, but I haven't for the past year. However, today (7/6) is my first day in a new role with a new boss (same company). I really hope I'll enjoy it.
I will say that go by this: Work a job you can tolerate in order to live the lifestyle you want.
