A lot of variables here, but me personally, 35-40 hours a week. I dont bill my time so some weeks its certainly less than that, and sometimes more if I’m on trial
I should add I do plaintiff work
I have to bill minimum 40 hours a week. So hours in the office/ logged in at home is at least 60. That will go up as the year goes on because we have to make up for any vacation/holiday/sick time we use.
A lot of the ones I know are working 50-60 hour weeks. Many have 100+ case lists
As a caveat, I meant plaintiffs PI firms.
60+, but I’m in a busy time at a mass tort firm.
I have a caseload of approximately 50 cases. They are a mix of nursing home neglect/abuse, motor vehicle accident, and premises liability cases. A third of the cases are pre-litigation, and the remainder are in various stages of litigation. I typically work about 50 hours per week, but sometimes I may need to put in as much as 80 hours in a week.
The elder abuse cases are very time consuming, and I seem to have a fair number of them. If there were more MVA cases, I could probably handle more with less time commitment.
