I stayed in a role for 15yrs because I was afraid of change. I was comfortable. I finally made the jump last year and it was exactly what I needed to get past the mid career slump
I used to be too afraid to negotiate salary so I never asked for more. I know I left money on the table being too afraid to ask for what I deserve

I think it depends on where I’m at in life. When I first started out, I didn’t know I could ask for a raise or voice concerns on the amount of work I was given. At one point, I literally was working two separate roles because they didn’t backfill one of the positions. After too long of juggling both, I asked for a raise with justification of my work and received a 10% raise the same day. That’s when I knew I’d have to advocate for myself otherwise they would’ve just let me keep being underpaid until I spoke up
