Good afternoon everyone. Question, during a product case interview after narrowing down to one pain point I want to focus on, do I then come up with 2-3 potential solutions? And then narrow that down to 1 after explaining my reasoning for picking that solution ?

Do any of you have experience with structuring a technical challenge to where it's the same for each candidate? I've had it happen where our devs asked questions to each candidate based on their lived experience vs. a standard set of questions that revolve around what needs to be performed in a dev role.

Does anyone in-house care about cover letters? I had an interview last week where the interviewer (a tech person and nonlawyer) said they found it odd that I submitted a cover letter. Aren’t they basically required? Or is this just a law firm thing?

Help me ask for a raise in my upcoming performance review? In sum, my company’s HQ is in Texas and I feel I’m being paid a Texas wage when I live in Los Angeles (the role is remote). We do have a San Francisco office and I want to ask my boss to match me what staff are making there. As that’s more comparable. UK specific query - If my company cannot find me clients/work and want to dismiss me because they are unable to find work for me at no fault of my own do they have to provide a severance package?
