You negotiation is no where related to your current CTC .. hr is using this trick to adjust and keep your salary at lower side .. remember if HR is bringing ur current CTC and trying to calculate new CTC, just tell them upfront that you are getting underpaid in current org and you don’t want to be judged on that ..
The new salary negotiation is based on what skills and value you are bringing to the new org and not ur current CTC
Check leetcode compensation to understand the market standards and then negotiate with HR
It all depends on yoe and current salary. Share that to help you better
