Who here is freelancing while working full time?
I have a question, fellow bowlaz! I work in a small advertising agency in Oslo, Norway, and we struggle to get in contact with international ad media such as Adweek (Ad Freak) and Ad Age whenever we want to show off our creative work. Does anyone of you have a way in, or tips on how we can get in contact with media outlets like these? Cheers

No, it’s not. Unless is a really simple task.
PM here...1.5 doesn't seem like enough time given what you described as the ask. You should go talk to your PM and explain the amount of hours it will take and what else you have on your plate and help them understand and hopefully they can give you more time/they wont do that to you again. I wonder if your PM is more Junior? Sorry you're in this situation!
You’re allowed to push back!! Sometimes PMs don’t know how long things take. Also sets a culture for more realistic times lines. Whether they end up changing the deadline or not, it sets a good precedent for future projects
That’s nowhere near enough time
Depends on the task - what are you being asked to complete in 1.5 days?
Expectations have gotten insane. 😔 I want to create cool shit not be stressed all the time.
Feels like a classic case of us forgetting what we are supposed to be paid for. Sure, some very tactical tasks from client could be accomplished in a couple days or a week. Social copy, comps from existing assets, maybe clients pay for a creative blitz for social. I think a lot of clients have internal teams they use as a control against agencies that will never seem as “efficient”. These same clients will often waste months in strat and testing - but creative and production are squeezed.
I’ve only been at agencies for a decade so this isn’t really my fight to fight, but I do remember a time where agencies were brand partners and we were paid to understand our clients brands, markets, competitors as part of our remit. We would come to strat meetings with comprehensive evaluations of the market and real points of view. Creative directors would argue with strat and account and clients (for better or worse) but they cared deeply about the work. Maybe our clients and all of us agency folks just want a paycheck and nominally positive results so we keep our jobs… but those clients can pay a lot less and get the same, with less push back, if they use internal agencies.
Sorry if this is a boomer rant but I really don’t get what we’re doing here for the most part.
