Mostly now Im in it for the games.
I scroll it daily because if you sift through the nonsense it’s still a good place to see new work. But man you gotta do a lot of siftin lol
Seriously so much to sift through lol
I have a couple of times, but back in ‘21and ‘22. Even now I’m interviewing with 2 places cos I saw something on LinkedIn. But these interviews only happened after months and months of applying to jobs and getting no response or rejected.
And I agree with you about both type of posts and can’t fcuking wait to get off that platform once I have a job. The thought pieces are pathetic and annoying more than ghost jobs. And the fake outrage and virtue signalling over ads and logo changes.
Rising Star
Never. Only thing I ever got out of LinkedIn was a freelance client who stiffed me for half my fee.
Has gotten me headhunted multiple times. But I post reasonably high value stuff that 1) showcases industry expertise while helping others; 2) conveys my values (e.g., doing pro bono work, upskilling.)
It’s full of recruiters who want to be content creators. Or post fake jobs. Saying DM me with hundreds of ppl sending resumes. Flip side. Recruiters still reach out but many go ghost after. Keep scrolling.
Exactly!!!
My current job and 2 jobs before this were because someone found me on LinkedIn and reached out or I applied to the job from a LinkedIn post.
That’s great. I’ve applied to several of jobs throughout the years and have had conversations with recruiters, but it’s never amounted to anything. I find it discouraging when I apply to a job that also shows hundreds of applicants have already applied
I got a job once from a creative director’s “I’m hiring send me your portfolios” post, but that was 3 or 4 years ago, I don’t know that I would today with the number of comments every post gets.
I also got a job from working not working once, so maybe I’m 2/2 at getting jobs the way nobody gets jobs. My book is pretty average in my opinion at least, so not sure why
I dunno I’ve gotten reached out to from some pretty good companies on there recently. The jobs search is better than it’s comps
I am a business leader. Here's what it taught me about spilling coffee.
It’s a never ending orgy of self-promotion and self-congratulation.
Pro
LinkedIn is the platform whose star fell the furthest. Even factoring in Facebook. When someone actively posts all the time you can assume that agency is in trouble.
100%
Yes. I’ve responded to legitimate recruiter posts and gotten freelance gigs.
Nice!
