Often. But multiple minimal effort things do add up.
Often. Gently point back to the timeline or scope and ask what should be deprioritized.
For me, I try very hard to write the sow so there isn’t (or less) room for creep. If they are asking for specific questions to be answered I put that in ( along with how we will answer it). I think seeing it on paper gives some boundaries for the project. For some I also tack on an “optional” fee for 10 hours for “related research if required “. 9 out 10 never use it, but like to know it is there and limited. If it’s beyond the hrs set, I suggest a new sow. This has worked pretty well for me.
Minimal scope creep on large projects is fine at times. It’s important to document it though to CYA and you can present it in a way that shows additional value add to the client. I’m not asking for a CO for 1 or 2 hours of work on a $3M engagement
All the time. It’s our job to control it though.
all the time. but i bill based on time spent so not a big deal
