How robust do we think DS is versus a recession? Where do we fall in the cut backs?

It depends on role.

I think analytics is general will be fairly robust in identifying cost-cutting measures. In 2020, data professionals were in high demand.

DS is more challenging as it combines highly valuable uses AND boondoggles. I suspect it will also be robust, but some people are being badly utilized.

Yes, the companies who claim to do DS and are not doing DS will be in danger

I’ve been verbally offered a position at a new company, but the recruiter insists on getting a verbal acceptance before sending the offer in writing. This person insists on negotiating salary before sending the paperwork. Generic benefits, RSUs, bonus info have been provided; it’s all unofficial.

This is absurd. Am I missing some “new way” of doing things? Your take?

Vets using Tricare with a family. I’m out and can use Tricare with the VA, but my wife and I each use our company offerings for our family; which obviously come at cost. Is it worth it to switch to Tricare? Has anyone done this and can share details? Positives/negatives?

I recently was let go (in lieu of accepting my two weeks) and I should have received my March expense check by the end of April per the employment agreement (submitted the report April 1, let go before mid April). I have emailed HR but haven't heard anything. I've got a feeling someone at the top is putting a hold on it.

How do I get my money from them? It's a few hundred dollars

Sorry if this isn't the right bowl for this question - I've checked a few.
