Has anyone invested in a franchise? Is it worth the time as a side gig potentially turning into a path for business ownership?

Hi everyone, applied for an investment consulting internship few weeks back.
It's a client facing job, but it might come at a later stage of a job, maybe after finishing my internship and getting a job offer.
I'm interested to know what is the must develop skills, must take courses or must read books to get insight, develop the required knowledge and skills for the position. I majored in business management finance and currently preparing for CFA level 1. Thanks in advance ☺️

I would like to learn more about development and real estate. Can anyone recommend any books or courses that you think are informative. Eventually I would like to own a few apartment buildings, but I know there is a lot I need to learn 1st. Any advice appreciated.

I currently work at a medium sized firm and have about two years experience in personal injury litigation. The billable hours and lack of work life balance are really getting to me and I am looking to switch to something else out of litigation, preferably in house. I am also looking to relocate to a different state. How do I go about properly marketing myself to companies that might not take my relocation and minimal experience seriously?

Subject matter expert with my CPA. I’m completely fed up with the compliance aspect of public accounting Tax but don’t mind the technical side. Does it make sense to become an attorney to get out of compliance work and still do something related to specialty tax?
Or do I just go the college professor route? Wouldn’t mind working @ BNA or something like that either but I’m seriously fed up with everything about tax compliance and can’t keep doing this

Graduated in 2017 from a top state school, GPA 3.88 and GRE 321 (quant 162, verbal 159) w/ 5.5 writing score. Asian female at a Big 4, worked in healthcare consulting and was fast track promoted in 1 year before switching into strategy/innovation consulting. I was interviewed for a perticular customer, which went well and also received an offer. Few days before of my joining date, i came to know that the technology stack from customer got changed and customer had no requirement for which i was hired. However parent company still hired me and now they're in process of allocating me in some other clients. Sometimes i feel insecure about this situation. How to cope up with such cases?

Started at a big firm in July with high hopes- in the career path I wanted and I would be joining with other new grads.
After onboarding, it’s as if my team forgets about us every day. The training is non existent, there doesn’t seem to be any initiative to invest in new hires, my manager scolds me for not knowing enough yet gives no direction. I don’t want to waste time (colleagues mentioned it doesn’t get much better from here). Do I embrace the suck or look for other opportunities?

How much time do you spend after regular working hours on learning and improving technicals? I feel the most challenging part for this job is not just to complete the client work but also endless learning which requires a lot commitments after work hours.

I have hit my wall. I cannot do public accounting any longer. I cannot deal with the constant focus on compliance, billable hour and the general unproductive behaviors/mindsets. I remember a day when we were here to help clients. Now I just feel like we are here to bill clients. I want to go help someone build something.
Now I just need to figure out how a director with a tax background can have transferable skills to something else...

Anyone have experience between choosing between an Industry position or making the final push (manager/SM level) for partner? How did you finally decide to go one way or the other and do you have any regrets?

Any one make a move from fund admin after big 4 assurance and then was able to make a pivot to a PE fund accounting team? I am considering moving to a fund admin now. Have 9+ years of big four experience. Worried that I can get stuck in fund admin. But I have interviewed at several big name pe shops and make a few rounds on interviews but then get the same feedback that they are worried about my lack of operational experience.

How does base compensation vary across the accounting advisory roles in big 4? PWC CMAAS, EY FAAS, KPMG AAS, DT advisory. Specifically for senior managers.
