They've relaxed that rule in KA, you can breathe easy.
Nice to know.
@PWC1, there won't be any issue with PUC. You can get into any Petrol Bunk which has a PUC stall and get it done. The registration state doesn't matter. The PUCs done are valid all over India with 6 months validity and can be done in any state.
I have got it done when I had TS number plate, got one when I got my KA number plate. My friend has been using his car with JH registration and got his PSU, just like a lot of other people.
The only problem you would face is when you break a traffic rule and the traffic police need to complete their monthly annual sales quota 😂 of issuing challans and snatching money.
Thanks
Although traffic police doesn't stop people with other state vehicles, but I believe the legal aspect of it is one has to get an NOC of the current state if registration is of a different state. I maybe wrong but that's what I have heard.
As per the rule, you don't need to re-register for 1 year, but beyond that it needs re-registration.
Full process is here https://www.bankbazaar.com/two-wheeler-insurance/guide/rto-rules-for-vehicle-transfer-from-one-state-to-another.html#:~:text=Vehicle%20re%2Dregistration%20is%20not,of%20up%20to%20one%20year.
if you know kannada then no issues
😂 😂. One of the good reasons to learn kannada. Glad I know kannada.
I had MP registration bike in Bangalore since 2017, the only reason I was stopped was no helmet and 200-500rs does the trick.
As long as you follow traffic rules n wear helmet, it’s not an issue.
You just need to change your number plate to Kannada that’s it
No I meant change the numbers printed in number plate and translate them to Kannada from English.
I urge people not to commit the mistake I made.
Feel free to get your 2-wheeler from other states with other state registration, but do not try to follow rules to get it re-registeted in Bangalore till the authorities correct their processes and mistakes.
I brought my 2-wheeler from Hyderabad (TS) registration bike to Bengaluru, and got it registered (to KA), following all the rules. Trust me, had I not loved my bike so much, I would have burnt it to ashes and posted on all social media.
I lost:
1. Peace of mind
2. Money
3. Trust in the system
4. Time - it took 1.5 years to register with incorrect details.
5. Authenticity of my bike registration - KA01 registered with incorrect engine number and BS version.
6. Focus from work - visiting RTO unnecessarily multiple times for work and follow ups.
I gained:
1. More hatred towards Bengaluru
2. Victim badge of corruption in Bangalore
3. Frustration
If you still want to go ahead, let me know, I could share the process. I have written about it on Quora too. Feel free to DM if u don't to discuss over comments.
Why this question? The number you have is an all India permit number you have paid the tax for it. So no issue in other state also
Nice
If you are from Maharashtra then no issue. I have been over a year in Bangalore with MH no. and never have I been stopped by traffic police. You only get fined if you get caught breaking traffic rules and they are around the corner 🤣
How do the cops know i have been here over an year? And how much are the fines?
Just pay TOURISM TAX in every 3-4 months, this is used for taxi peeps come to state from other state.
You can take your vehicle to bangalore registered in a different state. The validity is one year.
You have to show a proof that the vehicle in bangalore has not been any longer beyond one year. A petrol receipt from your state of registration works. The petrol receipt should not be more than 365 days old.
Safe Ride.
Go through all the due processes. Day before yesterday, someone's bike got stolen. The police refused to co operte as registration was not done. Wake up to reality. Police will make it really hard for you no matter how reasonable your justification is and no matter how well you are following the law. In India, "norms" are regarded higher than "laws". Please be in touch with ground reality.
As per law you need to register in another state however, if you have an NOC, you can drive for 6 months and then again get a new one or pay up the road tax in that state. This is an ideal condition.
Now absolutely, people go around everywhere especially bikes, even the traffic police men are aware of it.. Seeing increasing in number of vehicles of other states, they should fine.
However, some state, try to not implement the rule immediately so to avoid disruption, in economy.
In bengaluru, if you are driving with proper helmet and no chappals, I don't see anyone to stop you.
Moreover, don't worry too much.. In 100 scenarios two or three instamces you may face, asking you. Some you can doge. Somewhere you need to pay up.
But in overall, things are chill now.
Even I’ve been using KL Registeration car in Maharashtra for over a year and I’ve never been stopped by anyone so far
Usually if you are going for more than 11 months then as per regulation it is mandatory to change, but you can ride without problem as long as they don't stop you, which generally they don't if you are wearing helmet and there is some traffic in road
But if you don’t re register what about pollution certificate?
