I got an offer from another company. Currently working in walmart. The main idea behind getting an offer is to ask for a salary rise. I was very much underpaid here. So I thought getting an offer will help increase my pay here in walmart by getting counter offer from them. But i am not sure if I discuss with my manager it will backfire me.Walmart

It seems to be a fairly common situation in SG. Based on work & happiness studies conducted globally, SG workers rank high on work stress and low on happiness.
Cash is king or bags for me
SG work culture issue. It's not just you. You're not alone. A lot of the people here like to do "taichi", more active than Active Ageing groups lol.
It seems like you're not prepared to consider the option of changing job yet. I'm not sure about your personal situation and whether that is the main factor that is causing you to dismiss this idea of a job change. Job security in an unstable market? Wanting to gain more experience? What are you trying to gain out of continuing your employment wherever you are at?
Any thoughts from your side to speak to HR or a proper higher up who values career progression? Any chances of going for professional trainings to improve the skill sets that you have to switch things up? Sometimes the opportunity won't come if we don't pick up some courage to step up and say that we want to do something to invest in our skill set to continue being relevant wherever we're working. This aside, please make sure that your company values your input on career progression and truly wants to see you do well. If not, there is actually no point for you to stay in this dead end job feeling unhappy and unfulfilled except to get the same old pay every single month.
(You might get more elsewhere if you upskill and move!!)
Don't be afraid to challenge yourself and make some changes every now and then. Make sure you're taking calculated risk(s).
Have you tried talking to your manager? Having worked in SG for a few years, I feel a lot of Singaporeans love to complain about almost everything but make no attempt to solve the issue at hand. Having said this, I am not suggesting you are one to complain.
Perhaps it‘s time to evaluate where you fit within the company. If you feel yourself stagnating and you are clear about the value you bring but do not feel that you are valued then perhaps it’s time to move on. it is also a danger to center life fulfillment on work though it does not seem to be the case for you.
Before you move, you have to be clear about why you are leaving. There isn’t any harm keeping your eyes open and surveying the market. Don’t be afraid to challenge yourself. The bottom line is: if you want to leave then have a good reason to do so, and do what you need to in order to secure the next contract, sometimes this requires upskilling on your part. Good luck! And don’t ever feel as though you are trapped.
